In the December issue,Diane K Cridennda, L.Ac., Dr Magarelli MD PhD and Mel Cohen, Ph.D. report on the impact of acupuncture on Coritsol and Prolactin levels in IVF patients. This is the first time a mechanism of action has been described for the observation that Acupuncture when added to IVF treatments improves reproductive outcomes. We have been studying the combination of Acupuncture and high tech fertility treatments for over 6 years. Dr. Diane designed the Cridennda/Magarelli protocol to improve reproductive outcomes.

I hope you are all having a great summer. I just came upon an interesting article about Propolis. I have been prescribing Bee pollen with Propolis for improving fertility for quite some time. I came across a study published in Fertility and Sterility (2003;80:S32). This study demonstrated an improvement in pregnancy rates when 500 mg of propolis was taken twice a day versus a control group who received a placebo. The number of women who became pregnant in the treatment group was 60% vs. placebo pill at 20%.
